We give glass a second life

Our philosphy is based on the upcycling, transformation, enhancement and reinvention of glass bottles. Our objective is to create unique furnishings and fittings: unlike recycling which recreates the same object through the costly use of energy and machinary, upcycling transforms an object,without the excessive use of energy, into one or more finished products which have an added value thanks to its uniqueness and the creativity of the artisan.

What we do

Following the decision to start this journey we did some research an various tests cutting bottles using the methiod of scoring the bottle with a glass cutter and then heating the incision and then putting the bottle in cold water creating a thermal shock tha breaks the glass along the incision. After making various glasses we realised that the prototypes broke easily with daily use like washing. We therefore opted for cutting the bottles using a diamond disc and water to cool the glass with great results, this method means that only the edges need bevellng and polishing to have an effect that is comparable with the commercial product.

Selection of raw materials

The selection of materials is fundamental for the success of our projects, for example, not all bottles of wine are the same, the bottles can be made from different thicknesses of glass, using a bottle where the glass is too thin can compromise the the outcome, in the same way that the choice of original bottles enables us to have excellent results aesthetically as they are pleasing to begin with.

Enhancement and uniqueness

The mere choice of products with their own intrinsic value is not always meets our expectations, so we decided to use the

Hand engraving technique with rotating diamond bits to confer to some objects a greater attractiveness and the guarantee for the buyer to have a unique piece, the decision was thought to but in the end it got the better of others considered too much such as acid matting or sandblasting,

Engraving has a high artistic value in perspective and can develop to very high standards ranging from well beyond the homogeneity of a sandblasted or acidification, the possibility of using tips and polishing stones in fact, they allow you to obtain chiaroscuro, opacity, shine, reflections..
